The Cincinnati VA Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse - EHR Integrator/Patient Safety to work within Health Informatics Service. Heath Informatics integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice, while optimizing information management and communication. Physical Demands: Per VA Directive and Handbook 5019 - a physical examination will be conducted based on the physical requirements of the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. The population of male and female veterans served ranges from adult, age 18, to the elderly adult, age 65 and over. The VA Medical center is a major interdisciplinary teaching facility, serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients. There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The RN may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. He/she may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The RN must be capable of working effectively in stressful situations and able to shift priorities based on patient needs. BLS/ACLS Requirements: Current certification in BLS is required for all staff providing direct patient care, and police. Major duties/ responsibilities: Leads and organizes delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning. Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement. Functions as an expert in clinical practice/informatics and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities. Systematically evaluates current practice and formulates outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes.
