The Nurse Manager has 24-hour accountability for the management of the COVID Screening and Swabbing Unit. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the supervision of nursing practice and nursing operations within the unit. The Nurse Manager provides leadership in day-to-day operations and input into the strategic planning process for the attainment of organization goals. This position will transition into a Registered Nurse position within Nursing Service once the pandemic subsides. Duties include but are not limited to: Manages the patient care environment including budgeting, supplies, equipment and patients Supports High-Reliability Organization (HRO) implementation at the unit and facility level Personnel management including scheduling, counseling and evaluation of staff Staff orientation, continuing education, personnel development Direct patient care as needed Data collection, analyzing, trending, reporting, including nurse sensitive indicators Manage staffing process using VA staffing methodology and electronic staffing programs Create and advocate for a healthy work environment Monitor compliance to all standards and policies Responsible for all issues that affect nursing including standards of practice, training, functional statements, position descriptions, proficiency reports, performance appraisals, policies, procedures and competencies Provides direct supervision of nursing personnel and evaluates their performance and competency Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
