Geisinger's Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Program, staffed by CPSL physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, provides both acute and transitional care to patients living in area nursing homes, enhancing the care they already receive from nursing home staff. The SNF Program streamlines patient transition from physician offices or hospitals to the nursing home and improves patient outcomes to reduce the need for hospitalization, working closely with nursing home staff to coordinate and improve patient care.
With same-day care, including evening and weekend hours, we are your resource for non-emergency illnesses and injuries for the entire family. Come join our Community Medicine team where you feel like family.
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient and their family to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing of same in medical record to ensure continuity and quality of care. Promotes a clean environment. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Works under the general supervision of the site lead for daily operational issues. Works under the supervision of the physician in providing patient care.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates the ablilty to accurately prioritize clinical and clerical tasks.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, willingness to accept continuing education to
broaden skills, good clinical skills to work effectively with patients' families and
Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team of environment to be flexible, and maintain confidentiality.
Pharmacology knowledge preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE (CMA):
Graduate of an accredited two-year Medical Assistant program required. Association of Medical Assistants Certification required.
Certification of Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 3 months of hire.
Minimum of one year in a primary care setting preferred.
