SUMMARY: Responsible for directing the overall operation of the facility’s activities in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and as directed by the President of Northern Operations and the Board of Directors, and for ensuring that the highest degree of quality patient/resident care is maintained at all times. Guide WRMC in fully adopting the mission of the Ohio Masonic Home.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Establish and direct the implementation of written operational policies and procedures that reflect the goals and objectives for each department of the facility, and where possible, maintain consistency with policies and procedures of the Ohio Masonic Home. (Includes personnel policies, patient/resident care policies, procedure manuals, position descriptions, etc.) 2. Establish a rapport in and between departments so that each can experience the importance of team work. 3. Ensure that all personnel, patients/residents, visitors and the general public follow established policies and procedures and as necessary, interpret the facility’s policies and procedures. 4. Review regulatory policies and procedures periodically, at least annually, and recommend changes as necessary to ensure compliance with current regulations. 5. Ensure that the facility admits only those residents for whom it can provide adequate services and care. 6. Ensure that patient’s/resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times. 7. Recruit, select, train, and motivate competent department supervisors and other auxiliary personnel. 8. Review and interpret monthly financial statements and provide such information to the President of Northern Operations and the Board of Directors. 9. Using an adequate accounting system, know the current financial condition of each business segment within WRMC and make necessary adjustments to achieve favorable results to targets. 10. Keep abreast of the economic condition/situations and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the sustainability of the organization as well as the continued ability to provide quality patient/resident care. 11. Prepare an annual operating budget for approval by the Board of Directors and allocate the resources to carry out programs and activities of the facility. 12. Ensure that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted to authorize government agencies as required. 13. Represent the facility at and participate in top level meetings. 14. Delegate authority, responsibility, accountability, and establish clear expectations to direct reports and other responsible persons. 15. Authorize the purchase of major equipment/supplies as authorized by the President of Northern Operations, the Corporate Executive Team, and the Board of Directors. 16. Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the President of Northern Operations and the Board of Directors concerning the operation of the facility.
OTHER MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for the overall quality assessment and improvement program and the coordination of quality assessment and improvement activities. 2. Maintain a leadership role with the Quality Assurance/Performance (“QAPI”) team. 3. Ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner for patient/resident comfort and convenience. Ensure that all areas are in good repair and necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform duties/services. 4. Assist in the planning of purposeful in-service training classes and on-the-job training programs that will lead to better understanding of patient/resident needs. 5. Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished, and where applicable, maintain consistency with OMH processes and procedures. 6. Maintain strong relationships with patients/residents and their families. 7. Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or as directed by the President of Northern Operations. 8. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes in the health care field, as well as to maintain licensure requirements. 9. Review and check competence of the work force and make necessary adjustments/corrections as required or that may become necessary. 10. Receive advice from department supervisors concerning the operation of their departments, and other related areas, to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas, and /or improvement of services. 11. Meet with department supervisors on a regularly scheduled basis and conduct/participate in in-service classes and supervisory level training programs. 12. Facilitate relevant general communications to WRMC teams. 13. Maintain a good public relations program that services the best interest of the facility and community alike, including, but not limited to, local government and regulatory interests, local professional and service organizations. 14. Maintain an excellent working relationship with the medical professionals and other health related organizations through the formal working and transfer agreements. 15. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
